Donut Heaven
The Donut Man in Glendora California has become a Southern California icon. It is well known for its fresh strawberry and fresh peach donuts.
Last year they began a Facebook fan page and now have over 6700 followers. That is quite an accomplishment for small business.
The donut shop is located at 915 E. Route 66 in Glendora California. It is a 24-hour shop and often at two o’clock in the morning there are lines of people wrapped around the building waiting to get warm fresh out of the oven donuts.
Why have they become such an item? It’s because over the last 38 years they have delivered great customer service and focused on refining the art of making doughnuts. When you asked the owner of the shop Jim Nakano, how have you become so famous? His answer will always be, it’s our purpose to deliver the best donuts by using the best products and fresh fruit we can find.
The Donut Man has been featured in the LA Times more times than I can count. The last major article in the LA Times was titled The 99 Things You Need to Eat before You Die. In March of this year the Food Network came to Glendora and spent five hours filming for a new show that aired on September 23,2010 at 9:00 PM. This was the third time that the Donut Man was featured on the Food Network.
More recently, the Cooking Channel spent 10 hours filming in May of 2011 and featured our shop in their season premier in December of 2011. We are grateful for your support that allows us national recognition.
The Donut Man was also been featured on the PBS channel California Gold with a host Huell Howser and several national food magazines. MSN recognize the Donut Man as one of the top seven donut shops in the country just this year.
Over the years, college students that went to school in the area have gone on to live around the country in the world and they are now our fans on Facebook. We’ve had people comment when they see our pages on the Internet that the memories bring tears to their eyes because they miss The Donut Man so much. Those college students gather almost religiously every evening to hang out and develop strong relationships with their fellow students.
Customers travel over 30 miles weekly just to get fresh Strawberry or Peach donuts and take them back to work. When people find that someone lives in Glendora, they always ask do you know the Donut Man?
I love it when someone takes something simple and turns it into something extraordinary and these guys have done just that. How do I know? Because I’ve work there for 35+ years. This is me and Huell Howser and yes I was there for the Food Network Show.
Live life to the fullest and share your passion,
