Mobile Phone Marketing Madness

by Mark on June 28, 2010

I was reading an article by TechCrunch.com titled Clash of the Titans the Battle to Become The Mobile Search Leader.

The article is about how there is a battle between Apple, Google, Bing and Yahoo for the leader position for mobile searches on your cell phone.

One of the things that struck me is that the future trend shows that most people will be using mobile phones for internet access. Many of the searches that they will be doing will be for stores, products, directions, maps and blogs. They will also be searching social sites and watching TV on their phones.

I’ve seen several businesses lately where the employees are actually on their cell phones Googling and reading blogs or watching videos while they’re at work. Now I don’t agree with that practice but there is an opportunity there if you take notice of it.

The opportunity is this, when you are marketing products services or information you want to take into account that a lot of the people that are searching for your information may be using cell phones. So when you develop content for them to see, you want to make it mobile friendly. That is a huge challenge for marketers of small businesses and home based businesses  in the next few years.

I like Word Press for my blog because it is mobile friendly. By the way – What search engine do you use on your mobile phone?
