Once upon a time, there was a mouse named Peter. The little mouse wanted to be famous.
But he was just an ordinary mouse no different than any other mouse. That was his problem. He couldn’t think of anything that would make him famous. So he decided to ask the most respected mouse that he knew to help him become famous.
Aunt Sophie was a grand old mouse. She had lived long and had many friends and everybody in the mouse community knew who she was. So Peter asked her, “What will it take for me to be famous?” Sophie responded with her age-old wisdom, “Be who you were created to be. Treat all creatures kindly and do the next right thing.”
Peter went to sleep that night with Aunt Sophie’s words ringing in his ears. “Be who you are created to be. Treat all creatures kindly and do the next right thing.” Peter began to dream. He dreamt that he was a great eagle and could fly over the whole world. He was able to see things that no mouse had ever seen. He thought, “This is wonderful, I can make a map of the whole world and show all the mice were danger is and where the best food is.” But then the truth hit him. A mouse would never trust an eagle.
Feeling dejected, Peter thought, “What if I was a lion? I would be the strongest most respected creature in creation.” Peter dreamed that he was a lion. All of the creatures respected him but none got close for fear they would be eaten. As a lion, Peter would go to sleep at night alone. This was not the way he wanted to become famous.
When Peter woke up, he scampered over to Aunt Sophie’s house to tell her about his dream. Aunt Sophie just laughed, and laughed, and laughed. She said, “Peter, you are created to be a mouse. Not a lion. Not an eagle.” She then said, “You will become famous by doing the little things. Not by soaring over the other mice or being feared by the other mice but by being the best mouse you can be.”
Peter graciously said thank you and scampered back to his friends to be the best mouse that he could be.
The moral of the story – Be the best that you can be by being yourself.
Home based business success is made by taking Aunt Sophie’s advice, “Be who you were created to be. Treat all creatures kindly and do the next right thing.”
